Crumbling Foundations?

PDF version: Anderson WEEKLY 150627

“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3)

As this week’s decision by the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) again showed, the moral foundation of U.S. culture continues to shift. We do what Christians of every century have done when their government usurps authority and attempts to defy God’s Word. We . . .
  • Courageously continue to share and live the Good News with family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers, knowing that individual lives transformed by Christ will transform our culture, and that of Cote d’Ivoire where we are called to plant churches that do ministry and plant others (Ps. 11:1).
  • Prayerfully prepare for persecutions that will come as we obey God rather than man (v.2).
  • Radically repent for all our failings to worship in family as the Lord defines and so model the family’s strength and beauty (v.4b; De.6:1-19, Ep.5).
  • Compassionately care for the sinner while clearly confronting sin, home to home, in loving community (v.5; Jo.7:19, Ga.6:1).
  • Boldly broadcast citizens’ God-given rights and so bravely battle to protect the religious liberty of coming generations (v.7; example of prophets).
  • Resolutely refuse to wring our hands in despair because we know the Sovereign Word of our Lord reigns and we rest in His care! (v.7)
Thank you for praying for our family this week:
  • Our children: Cason and Suzanne serve as foster parents through September before beginning the adoption process; Cara has changed nursing jobs and trains to float between locations; Corbin faces spiritual challenges at his fast food summer job, and even some 13-hour work days, as around half the staff was fired when he hired on. Pray that their Godly influence of others grows.
  • Our mobile home residence is almost set up, but our fifty year old bodies are feeling it! Pray for physical strength, and good meetings in Tennessee for the next few weeks.
  • Positive developments of Community Health Evangelism in Cote d’Ivoire may affect where we decide to live when we return to the field. Ask the Lord for guiding wisdom.
We are blessed, indeed, to call you partners and friends!
Verlin and Debbie Anderson

The Christian Health Service Corps (CHSC) is a mission of dedicated medical professionals who participate in the CHE Global Network.  Together, in a loose affiliation of individuals, churches, denominational and nondenominational agencies, we share God's Light and Truth through Community Health Evangelism (CHE). Verlin and Debbie remain in need of 26 partners at $100 per month of support, or their equivalent, to resume a ministry of shepherding the expanding CHE ministries in Cote d'Ivoire under the auspices of the CHSC and Ivorian partners. Unless rescinded, the network includes FWBIM.
