Worth your salt?

As we continue unpacking, calculating expenses of our absence to cover, and taking moments to witness, our time to ‘settle in’ apart from others becomes rare.  Many here learned the phrase, ‘Time is money’. That’s true, but time is more. Time measures life. We’re all about using ours to facilitate obedience to our Creator so life flourishes. The use of our time here serves as the measure of our united obedience to God’s calling that becomes possible in the Holy Spirit when a sinner repents and confesses Christ as his Lord.

Our service here as ‘seasoning salt’ keeps growing beyond what we do. The Lord adds to our numbers monthly, almost weekly now. The Lord reminded us as Verlin experimented with egg, oatmeal, flaxseed, moringa-leaf-powder pancakes, that being salt boosts the flavor of other ingredients. Salting to taste is about releasing flavor and aroma; it’s not about becoming the flavor. ‘Salting’ is not about becoming dominant, it’s about being a servant to other flavors. It’s the same measure for effective witness.

When salt loses savor, it’s worthless because it does not potentiate anything around it (Mark 9:50). Thank you for participating in this sacrifice of being salt here. Together we can rejoice in the release of pleasing aromatic witnesses for
Christ. Yesterday was a case-in-point for Debbie to witness again firsthand the shift of interest that’s happened here in the last four years; the increase of savor our presence adds.  Deb participated in the regional meeting of Christian and Missionary Alliance (CMA) women. There is now a second or third group of witnesses in Gagnoa interested in Community Health Evangelism (CHE). Verlin has to double check other recent invitations, but is fairly sure two are from there. We, or some we’ve trained, will likely be the ones to disciple those witnesses toward the center and west of the country. (We are NE). The nationwide waiting list grows.

  Prayer Points:
  • Pray the Lord add laborers, Christian professionals, to continue the CHE movement. Pray we, or affiliated others, wisely choose and train those the Lord has called to serve. The second weekend training of an HCFI group happened in Abidjan as Deb filled one speaker’s place in Abengourou.
  • PTL, the inkjet print and the scan units both worked when unpacked. This allowed us to print the Women’s Cycle of Life lesson Deb used in yesterday’s introductory meeting. Pray the Lord continues to bless us with little loss of equipment function. So far, everything brought out is working after 33 months of being packed and moved three times or more.
