News of the New Year

PDF Print Version :  'Anderson WEEKLY 150120'

We hope you have experienced a very blessed beginning to 2015!

As Verlin sent a traditional African New Year’s greeting ministering to friends in Cote d’Ivoire, we received news of planned progress from partners doing CHE. One reported that meetings have been scheduled in 2015 for pastors from across the nation to be trained to plant churches using CHE. A Christian university professor began a third project he oversees since September 2013. This one will develop the evangelization emphasis of CHE within Christian communities. He already started two other ‘door-opening’ CHE programs emphasizing education in public health that use a Christian worldview. As usual, he asked about our progress in raising funds to return to the field. We serve to troubleshoot problems and connect him to others who have found solutions with local resources rather than international funding. What an encouragement to know that Ivorians pray for us, as well as ministry partners here.

PERSONAL PRAISE

  • Monday we learned that over $13,000 was donated to our account in December! This is three to four times the prior monthly average. We need 2/3 of that amount every month to sustain our lives and ministries in Cote d’Ivoire. Thank you so much for your part in hastening the day when we will again reside there to multiply believers who minister. Some donors indicated their gifts are monthly support given in lump sum. Our 2014 fourth quarter report will be prepped in February after we affirm our end-of-year status and review commitments. It appears that 60% of the 2014 budget was funded.
  • Debbie was able to have a successful knee surgery in December, and even complete her physical therapy before the end of the year.
  • Verlin’s CDC training in January for Ebola Treatment Unit work was very helpful. Among the 53 participants, he was encouraged by meeting many Christians in various venues making a difference for Christ. This specialized course opens additional doors to promote CHE during the Ebola crisis in our region of Africa.
We are trying a new communication schedule for 2015. Hopefully you will hear from us electronically more frequently, with smaller bites to swallow. These will not replace our quarterly reports that detail finances and give news over several months.

Blessed to call you friends,
Verlin and Debbie
