Perhaps there is nothing more gratifying in ministry than to see people take advantage of opportunities to grow spiritually—then to put what they learn
into practice! In June when DMM (Disciple Making Movement) trainers came from France to offer initial training, Verlin spent signficant effort encouraging a young pastor that the two days of training could greatly benefit his ministry.
He did finally decide to attend. By now in July, the pastor has started a Bible
study with over twelve people, and SEVEN of the people in that Bible study are
committed to leading their own Bible studies! Pastor D. is on fire with how
this outreach can share the gospel more effectively and multiply disciples of
Jesus more quickly. Praise The Lord!
Verlin returned safely in Cote d’Ivoire on July 26, Tuesday afternoon,
after running to board his overseas flight at the Dulles airport Monday
evening. Wednesday morning he headed
four hours north to attend the FWB Ivorian
National Assembly which began the prior evening. In upcoming weeks, we are
eager to share more good news of the ever-expanding doors to use CHE (Community Health Evangelism) around the whole
country that were solidified this week. One rural pastor was glad to know
Debbie had been trained in Women’s Cycle of Life CHE ministry (read the linked report from WCL in another country to know of its impact). In 2012 he and his wife stayed several days at
our house while she sought treatment for some health issues. Debbie was able to
share with her ways to prevent a common female illness. Since then, that
pastor’s wife has been able to help others with that knowledge and the pastor
believes WCL training will build upon the meaningful outreach in their setting.

Prayer and Praise:
- The CHE training by Ivorians in the city of Man finished well.
- Pastor Edmond earnestly thanked Verlin at the meeting for the counsel he
received by phone & email that shared means to deal with the stresses
brought upon his young family. All are doing better. To remember this story, go
to this link: https://awaupdates.blogspot.com/2016/06/simple-gifts.html
- Debbie’s follow-up visit with her surgeon this week was encouraging. He explained that the slower and more painful recovery is to be expected since he took extra time in surgery and used many more sutures than usual to prevent a recurrent abdominal hernia. He thinks our plan wise that Debbie spend three months more (or plus) in the States to regain strength before returning to Cote d’Ivoire.
- We thank the Lord that Verlin discovered a phishing attack of our Paypal account and could handle the issue quickly. He was quite certain that Debbie had not ordered a fur stole from Nordstom’s!
- Thank you for your faithful prayers and giving which allow us to touch
the unsaved and believers in Cote d’Ivoire every day. Pray with us that lives
will continue to be transformed in Jesus’ name.
