No Regrets

"Give of thy sons to bear the message glorious;
Give of thy wealth to speed them on their way.
Pour out thy soul for them in prayer victorious,
And all thou spendest, Jesus will repay.

Publish glad tidings, tidings of peace;
Tidings of Jesus, redemption and release."

This week a dear friend emailed us this verse from the beautiful old hymn, "O Zion Haste." She reminded us of her prayers for us and for our parents as Verlin
prepared to leave for Africa. She did not know that we had that very hymn sung at our missionary commissioning service, because it profoundly states the reason we leave our family and country to share the gospel overseas. How blessed we are as a couple that our parents have encouraged us to obey God's will! Instead of complaining that their grandchildren were leaving for years at a time, they have prayed fervently and always done everything possible to make our path easier. There are no words to express how much we treasure their example--and yes, one day the Lord will reward those choices.

Prayer and Praise

  • Verlin arrived safely in Burkina Faso. Pray for opportunity to follow-up to testimonies given a Dutch forensic psychologist and an American working for the USAID. Each separately assented to the good that belief in Christ brings as compared with the fruit of secularism and Islam.
  • Pray for the Million Village Challenge meetings which believers from several continents will attend March 8-10. If it has been a while, look at the known underestimated counts of the CHE Global Network.
  • At the last minute, the Lord allowed us to get Verlin reservations at a Christian guest house which cut his costs to $15.00 per night while he is in Ouagadougou. Praise the Lord for the savings!
  • Several U.S. FWB teams have converged on Cote d'Ivoire this week and in prior months for various ministries. Pray for safe travels, good health, and vibrant witness for them, as well.
