A Nation's Glue

PDF Version: Anderson_WEEKLY_160618

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads reading this! Your steady provision, protection, and prayer are a glue that helps hold the family and nation together. Never doubt your worth. We are especially thankful for our godly dads, one in heaven and one in Nashville today. They taught us to revere the Lord, and to consider it a joy to be a disciple of Jesus. By their examples of obedience and servanthood, we are helped every day in the choices we make. We enjoy(ed) all the word plays and jokes, too.

On holidays we also think of our three children, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter whom we cannot visit this Sunday. So in addition to ministry issues, thanks for praying for our beloved kids, as they each sincerely seek to follow Jesus in their milieus.

Prayer and Praise :

  • Muslims around the world are in Ramadan, their month of daily fasting. As we ask for strongholds to be broken in those communities, also pray that many will dream of a Man inviting them to follow Him, and then meet people who can lead them to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Part of the recent Disciple Making Movement (DMM) integration into CHE training that we participated in gave specific and proven ideas of how to befriend and interact with our neighbors of this different worldview. Despite the horrific violence and cruelty reported on the news, the Lord brings thousands to Himself from these groups. Be encouraged, despite Orlando and other brutalities. The Lord grows His Kingdom, and the gates of hell cannot prevail against it!
  • Cason (our firstborn), Suzanne, and Chelsea have been house-hunting in Nashville for several months. The market is expensive and tight; homes that fit their budget and location needs are sometimes snapped up within hours of being posted. They must stay in Davidson County for Chelsea's specialized hearing-impaired classes to continue at no cost. Ask for patience and wisdom as they wait for the right fit.
  • Cara's (middle child) church experienced a difficult six months with the death of her pastor and other trials. Pray for healed hearts and clear guidance. Ask that her testimony as a Vanderbilt nurse continues to flourish.
  • Corbin (youngest child) is working full-time this summer and needs wisdom in time management to CLEP out of two English classes before returning to college this fall.
  • Debbie interacts again with a doctor on Monday regarding an on-going pain that may be related to an infection or a hernia repair. Ask for clarity in what steps to take.
