Little is Much

As the United States endures a tempestuous presidential campaign season, Cote d'Ivoire (CI) dealt with a politically volatile issue on October 30. It was the second referendum concerning the nation's constitution since their Independence Day on August 7, 1960. Ivorians participating with Verlin in DMM studies or the GLS indicated that there were more than 100 changes to be approved, but that most seemed good. While most Americans go to the polls with little threat of violence, that has not generally been the case in our place of service, nor was it this time. Pray that the changes adopted will lead to good governance influenced by the Gospel that allows citizens to vote and live in peace. (This article explains concerns.)

In what has become a politically divisive issue in the U.S., our family is one of thousands nationwide whose health insurance premiums will go up almost 100% next year through the Affordable Care Act. Ask the Lord to give wisdom as we look for another policy this month. In the future, our mission may provide an option, but right now that is in the research phase. Whatever happens will affect our monthly budget. Also, we request your patience as we have been slowed in getting our quarterly report prepared and mailed. In those reports we share financial information of donations made and our account balance. Know that your faithful giving is what allows us to continue ministry. There are no joint funds or portions provided through the CHSC faith mission at this time. We know more monthly support will be needed for this work to continue unhindered, but are grateful for some one-time gifts over the past year that have carried us through some slower months of giving. We trust the Lord to provide again. Never think that one-time gifts or small monthly amounts do not make a difference. They matter greatly. Above all, your prayers are opening doors we never would have imagined and providing answers for people learning to escape poverty. Thank you, wonderful ministry partners!

Prayer and Praise
  • Ask for political changes in CI that benefit the people and increase freedom to serve the Lord.
  • Pray that we find adequate and affordable health insurance for next year.
  • Cover Verlin and an accompanying trainer who will be out of reach Nov. 7-13 as they provide a CHE training in a rural setting.
Your partners in the Gospel,
Verlin and Debbie

Christian Health Service Corps (CHSC) is a mission of dedicated medical professionals who participate in the CHE Global Network. Together, in a loose affiliation of individuals, churches, denominational and nondenominational agencies, we share God's Light and Truth through Community Health Evangelism (CHE). Verlin and Debbie accept donor partners to contribute as led to maintain support as we resume residential ministry to expand CHE ministries in Cote d'Ivoire under the auspices of CHSC & Ivorian partners. Tax deductible contributions by check are to be made payable to the CHSC with Andersons #0118 written on the memo line. Mail to CHSC - PO Box 132 - Fruitvale, TX 75127. Give online via the CHSC @ www.che4a.org (3% fee) or TDF (0% fee).
