Taste and See (Psalm 34:8)

Cleared empty boxes
with bonus puppy!
While Verlin traveled to and now travels within Ghana, Debbie deals with a dusty heap of empty boxes, among many other containers covered in rodent droppings after long years of storage! She and an Ivoirian co-worker cleared the storage room, getting rid of junk and cleaning as pictured. (The cute puppy is a bonus!) They make room for accessing essential items while prepping for the work of eventual house repairs. It brings to mind the kind of spiritual spring cleaning that we work to keep routine in our lives. Unfortunately, sometimes we hold onto the empty boxes of past events that have been covered by the blood of Jesus. Sometimes unhealthy mindsets clutter our thoughts. Or maybe we cling to some empty boxes of traditions with little or no Biblical basis. How about you? This month, a dreary time for many people, might be an excellent time to “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (I Thess. 5:21)—and trash the rest!

Come and See (Psalm 66:5)

Verlin landed in Ghana without complication, thank the Lord! Unfortunately, pressure from his ear infection, apparently stemming from ongoing dental injuries yet to repair, has returned the fourth time. The timing is not ideal as he participates in the CHE internship, but the Lord knew this. So he restarted the prior successful treatment.

The learners participating in the Community Health Evangelism (CHE) Internship often come because they realize they have empty boxes of ministry traditions to relinquish. They desire to solidify new ways of thinking and plan attainable goals. Pray that this month proves to be a marvelous time for equipping and encouraging them as the time has provided others before them.

Prayer & Praise

  • πŸ™ Thank the Lord for Verlin’s negative COVID tests and his safe arrival in Ghana! Pray the ear infection again clears with the medications. He hopes to evade invasive action until he can follow up 2020 established relationships with dental and ENT specialists this summer in the States.

  • πŸ™ Debbie’s back is greatly improved! Thank you for praying with her. Also, ask for wisdom as she handles daily life in Africa with Verlin absent for a time.

  • πŸ™ Keep the month-long Community Health Evangelism (CHE) Internship in your prayers.
