Dear Friends and Ministry Partners,
This week we share the testimony of a Free Will Baptist who has promoted the welfare of widows and orphans in Cote d’Ivoire since we came to know him in 2000. After every Community Health Evangelism (CHE) training, participants are requested to provide feedback. At what was the last training to date focused upon and subsidized for Free Will Baptist ministries in Cote d’Ivoire, he shared this response.
During this training, I learned that Community Health Evangelism (CHE) is truly an instrument that permits an ongoing development which lasts in a community because members of the community are its principal actors.
I relearned during that the variety of methods and techniques used as approaches in CHE can be precious tools of evangelism and to plant new churches that multiply.
I clearly understood that reports of activity are very important in order to measure results achieved during a CHE program, and beyond. We could statistically measure all the diverse activities of our various church departments this way too.
I was surprised to find myself thinking that our Free Will Baptist churches could better facilitate church planting movements if we take the time to experiment and appropriate CHE and the multiple methods and techniques it offers to us.
I rejoice that I was able to participate in this 2nd training after last year’s TOT1 (Training of Trainers 1). What I’ve learned has enriched my life so I can do better in all my activities: community, professional, and spiritual.
I would love to see the leaders of our Quarterlies and our National Church be enriched by these trainings so we could experiment in the different regions where we are placed.
In my humble opinion, I think that the CHE program has not truly started, or taken off, among Free Will Baptist churches . . . I’d love with all my heart to see our churches put aside the blockages and embrace the CHE program because it works so well with the other communities . . . it could also work well with us if we did it whole heartedly. – (end of week evaluation - May 18, 2013)

NAFWB Meets
PDF version: Anderson WEEKLY 150722
Dear Friends and Ministry Partners,
Greetings from Grand Rapids, Michigan! We overlooked getting a note out last weekend as we shared during a weekend service and prepared for the National Association Meeting of Free Will Baptists (NAFWB).
Meeting at the Devos Center, representatives of churches from across the U.S. share tips and counsel for practical outreach, family discipleship, and sharing faith in Christ, while also supporting institutions that train new generations to experience and share the Good News that God lives among men once again. The 7:00 PM worship services are live-streamed at http://www.fwbmedia.com/nafwb and can be viewed there later. We meet with many who support us while reconnecting with others who consider it.
We sent for passport renewal in early July, continuing preparations for Verlin’s six week trip to Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana. Thank you for a great second quarter of income with June's total over $8000. A further look at the numbers indicates that we’re about 70% funded for our return to residential ministry. We will seek affirmation to return to life and ministry there when that estimate breaks 90%. We need about 17 more partners of the 25 needed at $100 per month to see that day. Except for two annual gifts and a single gift, all funds come from Free Will Baptist churches and relationships that we have been blessed to develop during our lives. Many understand intuitively why the Holy Spirit led this shift of our ministry. Thank you for praying, working, and sharing to return us.
Prayer & Praise:
Verlin and Debbie Anderson

Prayer & Praise:
- Pray for the growth of generational discipleship approaches where parents teach their children in the home as the CHE model has been stimulating for more than thirty years now. Sunday School and Life Group material continues a parallel shift to this discipleship approach in the U.S. via established ministries thanks to the influence of our friends at Randall House Publications.
- Continue to pray for an uncomplicated passport renewal process so Verlin’s ticket and our invitations to reside in Cote d'Ivoire show the new passport IDs.
- Pray for safety and wise speaking as we continue to visit supporters and friends during the week. We also travel to join extended Anderson family in reunion this coming weekend.

Going fishing?
PDF version: Anderson WEEKLY 150711
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." (Maimonides) This seems perfectly logical in a Christian worldview. But from the perspective of an African animist, this may not be sensible at all. What would be your response if you believed, as many do in this world, that some fish may be your relatives?
We may laugh at the thought, but this is the reality of one Ivorian village and illustrates the power of a key understanding of Community Health Evangelism (CHE): the integration of spiritual and physical ministry. CHE requires more than combining Band-Aids with tracts. Belief is understood to drive behavior. As a result, beliefs are sounded to be addressed as felt needs are examined. Common assets provided by a loving Creator get rediscovered as being readily available for the needs. Inaccurate beliefs which captivate people in dependent patterns yield to those founded upon God’s Word. As an accurate faith in mathematics allows mankind to build stable structures, so accurate faith in what God has spoken lets men live blessed lives.
The integration among believers is to bring together Jesus’ Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), and the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40). CHE programs strategically accomplish this by training community members as Community Health Evangelists (CHEs) who regularly visit 10 – 15 neighboring households. These men and women share the Gospel and promote principles of disease prevention and healthy living. The program is designed to be transferable, multipliable, and ongoing after the training team leaves the area.
Franklin Graham shares the idea this way: “We must see the whole man and his total need. If you only see his mental need you will become an educator. If you only see his political oppression, you will become a revolutionary or a politician. And if you see only his spiritual need, you will become a religionist. It is in seeing the whole man, with the strongest emphasis on the spiritual that you become a Christian witness, a missionary, an evangelist, a communicator of God’s Word.”

Free 4 Good
PDF version: Anderson WEEKLY 150704
Happy 4thof July Weekend! As American citizens
gratefully celebrate 239 years of
liberty, pray with us that thousands more people in Cote d’Ivoire
will be “free indeed” by knowing Jesus. Today, our family reading
of the Gettysburg Address reminded us to not let the great sacrifice
of past patriots be “in vain.” May the faithful of this
generation pass along a heritage of physical and spiritual freedom in
our own country and to the rest of the world. This week we learned
further of the plans to extend outreach from Bondoukou to see that
happen. We pray that Ivorian believers, as well as we ourselves, grow
in the Spirit until all are freely able to bow the knee before Jesus
to prove among men what is good.
Nothing like torrential rains to say, “Welcome to town!” Parts of Cookeville and surrounding areas suffered a rough weekend of flooding with more hazardous weather on the way. Thankfully we did not have problems on our property while welcoming family for part of the holiday weekend, but we hurt for those nearby who have lost much and give thanks for the tangible love being demonstrated by disaster planning being put into action.
