During this week, Debbie packed and prepared for her medical follow-up in the U.S. and Verlin regrouped with others here after 12 days in Ghana. 
As our household finished hosting some Ivorian guests for over a week, then received others, and then made or rearranged plans for future meetings, we received a fabulous report in person from one of our ministry associates.

In the continuing expansion of ‘unchurched’ Discovery Bible Studies (DBS), M. gave one of seven donated MegaVoice digital players of the New Testament in Jula to a business woman of another faith a few weeks ago. She would listen to the Scriptures, and they would meet once a week to discuss what she heard. She has now confessed Jesus as her Lord and shares her testimony openly! Having come to the Savior at last, she mentions feeling frustrated at the many years wasted in a false religion. Praise the Lord with us for decisions being made in these DBS that grow at the same time as those being developed in various Evangelical churches. She is not alone. We work to see her accompanied in choice by others from her former faith. We want more angel singing! (Luke 15:7, 10)
A man from out of town also came to meet with Verlin. He attended the training we hosted in early December and has not been able to escape the conviction that he must implement what he learned to plant a church. The HOW of the process is why he came by to seek counsel.
Prayer and Praise
- Praise the Lord with us for these tidbits of encouraging news that we share from those we receive regularly from people growing in their personal faith and ministries as they apply the abundant life principles of Community Health Evangelism (CHE) and Discovery Bible Studies (DBS). In another report, we learned that the youth leaders of the nation’s second largest Evangelical denomination were exposed to CHE-DMM during a Vision Seminar this week.
- This upcoming Tuesday, Verlin is to share about CHE on a Christian TV program that is produced in Abidjan. As this is not our normal venue of sharing, pray that the Lord will guide his words and participation to both challenge and encourage listeners. He also needs to be able to connect with people of three recent meetings about planning a CHE training for May.
- Continue to pray for Debbie’s transition to the States and that wise decisions will be made about treatments for her knee replacement. The continued pain limits her mobility and participation. It seems to emanate from several sources. While taking an antibiotic to treat some ‘Lobi lightfoot’, one of the pains diminished. We do not yet know what that indicates, and what the other warning pains signify, but are trusting the Lord to lead as is best for all.
Finally, keep praying with for the various CHE initiated enterprises and the growing network of individuals using them to fund their ministries. These inspire others to trust the Lord. This photographed machine was carried from Lagos to Abidjan. The costs and profitability related to extracting moringa seed oil in Cote d’Ivoire for local consumption and the provision of animal feed are to be examined.
