Taste and See (Psalm 34:8)
That world outside there is not waiting for a new definition of Christianity, it's waiting for a new demonstration of Christianity. — Leonard Ravenhill
The vast majority of social media and news outlets alarmingly portray the Christian faith as forming transphobic, homophobic, xenophobic, ignorant, and uncaring individuals! Instead, Christians have demonstrably been the people caring for the poor, ill, and outcasts throughout centuries of history. This lie told in every generation has only one remedy: unbelievers need friends who exemplify Christ’s love for the sinner and hatred for sin. They need to hear the glorious Gospel of truth demonstrated in our daily lives.
Last month, Debbie received a book to help us address this issue directly and provide current contextualization to promote use of CHE lessons. In The Path to Flourishing, the author Randy Creswell succinctly summarizes how current scientific, moral, and cognitive evidence points to Biblical truth. Creswell’s short summary (only about 100 pages) reminded Debbie of a longer, wonderful book entitled What if Jesus had Never been Born? by Dr. D. James Kennedy, with one exception. In his research, Creswell concentrated on non-Christian scholars to present his proof that the Biblical way of life leads to human dignity, compassion, equality, and purpose in life, to name a few. If you have family or friends buying into the lie that the Christian life is hate-filled and deeply prejudiced, The Path to Flourishing may help you, too.
Come and See (Psalm 66:5)

Debbie completed her last adrenal test Monday night through Tuesday morning. She should know the results next week, but expects to be released to return to Côte d’Ivoire, with a few caveats. Several projects need to be completed with Verlin’s supervision overseas (a generator not working properly and a water pressure regulator installed), in addition to preparing our home for our extended absence.
Prayer & Praise
- 🙏 Verlin will be away from home for most of the next six weeks, meeting CHE trainers to give them lessons and then handling responsibilities before, during, and after the university Expo training of Sept. 7-11. Pray for safe travels, good preparation, and Holy Spirit-guided and empowered interactions.
- 🙏 Debbie completed her last adrenal test this week. Unless the results are extreme, she expects to be released to return to Côte d’Ivoire. Before this test, the doctor’s thoughts were to watch her symptoms for a year, get another CT scan next summer, and check the size of the adrenal tumor. If it is growing, or symptoms remain or increase, she might have the left adrenal gland removed. Until then, it remains a watch-and-see situation.
- 🙏 Pray for the successful opening of a Christian school in Bondoukou. It has been a national FWB project for many years and has experienced numerous setbacks.

Verlin & Debbie
