United to Thrive

The fourth CHE university training is history! Eighty-six participants were

inspired in two TOT1 (Training of Trainers 1) sessions, one TOT2 (Training of Trainers 2) session, and two workshops. The workshop on microenterprise was led by Dayo, a proven CHE leader from Nigeria. The other workshop was led by Alice, our guest from North Dakota, who has worked closely with the Director of Public Health for that state. She previously led CHE teams in East Africa before developing the CHE form of ministry that leads to Christ being shared in work and public health locations. Her insight to
those in Ivorian healthcare gave specific answers to complex questions. This sharing has been invaluable, and very appreciated. The university and trainers are pleased with the outcome. Planners for next year anticipate 100 participants. This yearly event has helped a reported 130 trainers of CHE (Community Health Evangelism) be trained in other locations this year. May it result in thousands of lives being transformed spiritually and physically across the nation as the truths of abundant life in Christ are shared in days to come. Thank you for praying and giving to see that done!

Saturday, September 17, was the fourth annual meeting of the Ivorian Association of CHE (AISEC). Sixteen participants exchanged vision and news. They represented about half of the association's participating groups. Ask for safe travels as Verlin sends some home and accompanies another this week.

Prayer and Praise:
  • Thank the Lord for His help all this week at the university in Abidjan.
Trainers worked through some grueling discussions and unexpected
absences during the week that only resulted in God getting more glory. A recap meeting to improve next year's event will be held Friday, September 24.
  • Pray that seeds planted will take root in hundreds of locations in Cote d'Ivoire. We will share specifics later, but three participating church leaders plan to integrate their Gospel presentation using many of the same lessons lauded and embraced as practical solutions to help the poor and the wealthy escape their different forms of poverty.
  • Debbie was diagnosed with abdominal cellulitis earlier this week in Michigan, and then had a strong reaction to the first antibiotic she was given. As a result, she is returning to Nashville this weekend to follow up with her regular doctors. We want to ensure that there are no infections or complications as she works toward returning to Cote d'Ivoire.
