Gems of Grace Expositions

Hidden Gems

Flyer for CHE Expositions
One side benefit to spending time in Abidjan preparing for the University Community Health Engagement (CHE) expositions is the opportunity to interact with CHE partners developed at the University. After distributing classroom assignments, we sorted and organized CHE lessons so the number of handouts to photocopy for accompanying the three 35-hour sessions of CHE training could be calculated. These sixteen hours of prep work for hosting the multi-level training took place at the University's toxicology lab. Since students remain on summer break, the lab provides sufficient counter space to spread out the documents for review and correction.

As we worked, leaves and feves dried beside us. We are always intrigued to see what experiments Professor Luc undertakes for the benefit of his countrymen. One of his passions revealed and developed during our relationship is extracting healing compounds from plants to predictably treat a plethora of specific health issues. This believing brother regularly taps into the wisdom revealed in Christ for medical solutions. If time prioritization allowed, he and Verlin would talk for days about remedies to provide for healthier living. This time, their exchanges centered on the sulfur compound distinction in cassava plants which is found in cruciferous vegetables and thought to limit some cancers.

Healing Grace

On Tuesday, the 18-year-old girl from Guinee who came with Ebola to Cote d'Ivoire last week was pronounced free of the virus! The traceable people with whom she had immediate contact have been vaccinated, as well. Last week, once the case was confirmed, Guinee sent Cote d'Ivoire 3,000 vaccines for Ebola made available through the United Nations.

In other excellent health news, people are amazed to see our Ivorian pastor's wife's remarkable recovery from her ulcer through diet and food management. She continues the regimen of cabbage juice and olive oil that Verlin recommended. It is a joy to see her face free from pain and to know that she sleeps well while beginning to resume her former routines little by little.

Prayer & Praise

  • Science Congress Flyer
    • πŸ™ The Scientific Congress takes place this upcoming week. Pray that the outcome will fortify the use of CHE into more venues within the nation and region.

    • πŸ™ Rejoice with us for the healing of the girl from Ebola. Ask the Lord to enable the public health department to continue to contain the spread of this deadly virus.

    • πŸ™ Thank the Lord for his revealing how to assist our pastor's wife's health help herself. It is a joy to see her face free from pain and to know she resumes more activity each week.
