Business session at the Ivorian FWB Nat'l

We enjoyed spending a short time at the National Associ -ation meeting of Ivorian FWBs mid-week. It gave occasion to see many brothers and sisters with whom we have connected or ministered during our past 21 years in Cote d’Ivoire. The timely teaching centered around our denomination’s history, what that translates to mean in the African context, and the fundamentals of the faith. All of us need reminders of the origins of our faith and history. The understanding provides grounding for us during perilous days. Although a relatively small crowd attended the meetings, they chose their national leadership for four years. Debbie caught up with some friends she had not seen in over 10 years, including a man who was a faithful worker for her mother at the Doropo clinic when she was a young child! Verlin helped a Community Health Evangelism (CHE) trainer prepare for the upcoming Scientific Congress. We left before meetings ended to provide sufficient time for repacking at home and finishing errands before going to Abidjan for a month.

Profitable Mentoring

Verlin received a pleasant surprise during his more than 1,000-mile visit to various CHE trainers. He stopped to visit R., a trainer who will join us for the university training, in a town about an hour from home. After parking alongside the NGO office of R., he heard a voice calling his name. It took a few minutes and some prompts for him to remember the young man he had trained to use Discovery Bible Studies (DBS) in Bondoukou during early 2019. A. left our town to pursue training in Abidjan to work with metal. According to his testimony, he has started DBS wherever the Lord has taken him. He continues to find the Lord communicate His will to him directly in different ways through these Bible studies, and he uses the tool (FR) (EN) to reach out to friends. He sees the origins of his blessing and direction by studying and obeying the Word of the Lord.

• • 🙏 Earlier this week, Côte d’Ivoire confirmed its first case of Ebola in 25 years. Neighboring Guinea immediately sent vaccines to help with the crisis. The United Nations offers help, as well. Avian flu among chickens has surfaced in one town on the coast, too. When it rains, it pours!
    
    
  • 🙏 Pray for the new Ivorian FWB leadership elected this week. Ask the Lord to give them wisdom and clarity in addressing issues and challenges to keep the group united in their mission.
    
    
  • 🙏 Joining the world in prayer for the people of Afghanistan.
